Eric Yocom

Eric is a custom furniture maker based in Austin, Texas. His passion for woodworking grew while attending the 3-Month Furniture Intensive at the Austin School of Furniture in 2022, where he learned from master craftspeople like Philip Morley, Frank Strazza, Clark Kellogg, Mark Macek, Evan Court, and Sarah Watlington. After moving to Austin in 2023, he quickly became part of the school’s community, teaching Fundamentals of Woodworking and lending a hand in many other classes.

Before turning his focus to furniture, Eric served in the United States Marine Corps as a percussionist and drum major until he was eligible for retirement in 2014. His career took him around the world, from deployments to Kuwait and Iraq to becoming the Assistant Drum Major with “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band. One of his most meaningful roles was leading the band in more than 160 full honors funerals at Arlington National Cemetery.

Today, Eric brings the same dedication, discipline, and attention to detail from his military and musical background into his woodworking, creating pieces that are as thoughtful as they are beautiful.
